Description:
Under direction of the Bighorn Sheep Program Manager this position will monitor the Nebraska bighorn sheep population using standard and emerging methods of observation and analysis. They will assist with the implementation of a Bighorn Sheep Restoration project involving capture, radio collar tracking, necropsies, disease testing in wild/captive sheep and future reintroductions of bighorn sheep into unoccupied habitats.
They will assist with bighorn sheep research projects which include study design, implementation and analysis. They will monitor disease issues between domestic sheep and wild bighorn sheep to sustain and/or increase the bighorn sheep population in Nebraska and complete other duties as assigned.

experience:
OR 1 year coursework/training in fisheries management, natural resources, biology, and/or agriculture.
KNOWLEDGE,:
SKILLS:
, & ABILITIES: Working knowledge of big game and other wildlife species; life history and habitat needs. Ability to communicate effectively; set goals and objectives; perform heavy physical labor and work outdoors for long periods of time; ability to hike through rough terrain. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions; perform office work, operate and maintain hand and power tools, telemetry equipment, UTVs, trucks.
- Develop and maintain professional relations with a broad range of agencies and constituents.
- Driver’s license required.
