    counties north and south of the Golden Gate Bridge and includes iconic places such as Muir Woods National Monument, Fort Point National Historic Site, Alcatraz Island, Crissy Field, Mori Point, Lands End, and the Presidio of San Francisco.     Branch/Unit Description:

    The Parks Conservancy’s Innovation and Impact Hub is nested in the Executive Branch and is a department within our organization dedicated to driving informed decision-making, fostering a culture of evaluation, and measuring our impact. The Innovation and Impact Hub establishes organizational processes, systems, and

    tools to support this collaborative work across the Conservancy and park partners. The team manages data tools to capture key insights on visitors, programs, and organizational metrics, and analyzes park-wide data to generate impact reports. This position will work on various projects within the Community

    Database ecosystem, a Salesforce-based system housing contact and programmatic data for the park’s volunteer programs, youth programs, community engagement programs, internships, and internal trainings. With over 8,000 volunteers, over 1,400 youth program participants, and over 100 interns in the park annually, the

    Community Database is a critical reporting and data management tool for our parkwide programs.

    Position Overview:

    This is a non-exempt, six-month position of 32 hours /week.

    We are looking for a highly organized and data-driven individual to work on various projects within our Salesforce database ecosystem. Our Salesforce database (the Community Database) is a critical hub for programmatic data across the park, supporting our ability to report on and track programmatic goals and

    organizational initiatives, while also serving day-to-day functions such as registration. With over 700 users, the Community Database is a complex system that is core to park program operations.

    The Community Database Intern will work with the Senior Database Administrator on key impactful projects for the system such as developing reports & dashboards; mass data cleaning; data imports; data analysis; creating

    • documentation; and deploying new database infrastructure and automation. The

    intern will have the opportunity to learn about the Salesforce platform via Salesforce Trailhead trainings and other resources to work on these projects. The intern will also interface with park staff that use the Community Database, answering common questions, understanding their needs for the system, and

    synthesizing their feedback into actionable and scalable tasks. Interns are also required to take part in professional development activities throughout the parks and will have the opportunity to join networking events with fellow park interns.

    Primary in-person worksite will be Fort Mason in San Francisco. In-person meetings, trainings, and other opportunities may take place at any of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area park sites in San Francisco, Marin, and San Mateo Counties. Transportation will be made available from Fort Mason to other park

    sites.

    April 7, 2026 - September 26, 2026

    32 hours/week, Monday - Friday

    This position will be hybrid (in-person & remote). We expect 3-4 days of remote work and 1-2 days in-person each week, with some variation due to scheduling needs.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Foundational Learning

    • Complete Trailhead modules to learn core concepts about the Salesforce

    platform.

    • Meet with park staff and other interns across the Conservancy, National Park

    Service, and Presidio Trust to learn about their work and data needs.

    • Learn about specific features of the Community Database – database

    architecture, portal environment, user types, common reporting outputs, integrated tools, etc.

    Salesforce & Data Projects

    • Build dynamic reports and dashboards to meet common user requests and

    organizational goals / metric tracking in a scalable way.

    • Use tools such as Excel and Power BI to build additional visualizations using

    Salesforce data.

    • Enhance existing documentation and create new documentation for users to
    • provide high-quality and helpful resources – step-by-step text guides and

    video tutorials.

    * Assist with historical data imports into Salesforce:

    • Set up data import sheets.
    • Review, clean, and re-format data in Excel to prepare for import.
    • Learn how to use tools to import data into Salesforce.
    • Respond to common requests and questions from database users; support users

    in a friendly, customer service-oriented fashion.

    • The intern will have the opportunity to select/develop a Salesforce project

    of interest to them in the later portion of their internship.

    Marginal Duties

    • Attend required park internship trainings; participate in other trainings and

    intern opportunities, as schedule allows.

    • Communicate in-person & by email, phone, videoconference, etc in a

    consistent, timely, and professional manner.

    • Participate in team meetings, one-on-ones, and other database-related

    meetings; meetings will be a mix of virtual and in-person at various park sites.

    • Understand and closely follow protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
    • Other duties, as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
    • At least 1 year (can be cumulative) of experience working with databases,

    large data sets, and/or statistical analysis.

    • Experience with spreadsheets and email platforms.
    • Experience working in a team environment and independently.
    • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar database platforms is beneficial

    though not required; comfort with technology & willingness to learn new software.

    • Basic skills with Microsoft Office suite of tools, including Outlook, Teams,

    Word, and Excel.

    • Understands work with data sets, data analysis, and basic statistics.
    • Respect for confidentiality of data and personal information.
    • Detail-oriented & organized – able to accurately work with large amounts of

    data, write thorough documentation guides, and maintain calendars and shared

    • documents.
    • Desire to work in a team and to work with a diversity of people with

    different backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, ages, and viewpoints.

    • Energetic and self-motivated; able to work independently once provided

    direction, able to problem-solve, and willing to ask for support as needed.

    • Good communication skills and respect for others. Responds to texts and

    emails in a professional and timely manner.

    • Appreciates parks, public lands, and data; appreciates connecting people to

    parks.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Salesforce-specific experience a plus.

    Compensation:

    Living Allowance = $640/week

    All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.

    • This is a non-benefitted position. Interns do receive paid sick time. Interns

    also receive unpaid time off on federal holidays and may request additional unpaid time off for vacation or personal use.

    • Uniform shirts, jacket, and hat with the Parks Conservancy and NPS logo will
