    Job Description

    Position Summary

    Organization Description:

Since 1981, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (Parks Conservancy) has served as the nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, collaborating with the Presidio Trust, partners, donors, and the community to support the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA). The GGNRA stretches across three Bay Area

counties north and south of the Golden Gate Bridge and includes iconic places such as Muir Woods National Monument, Fort Point National Historic Site, Alcatraz Island, Crissy Field, Mori Point, Lands End, and the Presidio of San Francisco.

The Parks Conservancy engages at the intersection of national park sites, local communities, social justice, and climate resilience. Collaborating with partners, our staff are dedicated to enhancing public awareness and providing volunteer and educational opportunities in the parks. We are park builders,

caretakers, ambassadors and educators, all working to connect people to parks in

    • support of our vision Parks for All Forever. Join us.

    Branch Description:

The Development & Membership department supports the mission of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (GGNPC) through organization-wide fundraising efforts which include a robust range of programs – membership (< $1,000 gifts), major gifts ($1,000+), special events, legacy giving, grants, campaigns, One Tam, and

    other special fundraising initiatives.

Our team is critical to identifying, engaging, stewarding, and leveraging philanthropic, public, and individual support to continue to invest meaningfully in the work and mission of GGNPC in keeping our Bay Area national parklands welcoming, vibrant, healthy, and relevant.

    Position Overview:

    This is a non-exempt, 6-month position of 32 hours/week, running from April 7 - September 26, 2026.

The Development & Membership team is looking to hire an intern who is interested in learning more about philanthropy, donor stewardship, and helping to conserve the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. This position will report to the Associate Director, Donor Database and Development Operations.

This internship will support the Development & Membership team through two key organizational improvement projects. The intern will review and assess existing fundraising policies and procedures, help to document current workflows, and

    • contribute to the development of a clear, user-friendly Standard Operating

Procedures (SOP) manual. In addition, the intern will conduct an organization-wide inventory of event and fundraising supplies to establish a centralized lending library.

During the internship, there will be opportunities for them to meet with each team (e.g. Membership, Individual Giving, Special Events, Grants, and Operations) within the Development & Membership department to learn more about how their specific work contributes to overall fundraising goals.
