About Camp Tanager:

• Established in 1926, Camp Tanager provides day and overnight camp programs to over 1,000 campers each summer. Campers from all backgrounds are welcome to attend our programs designed for fun, fitness, friendship and learning. Camp Tanager was voted Coolest Camp in Iowa in 2016 by The Philadelphia Inquirer for our unique and expansive program offerings.

Why Camp Tanager? We are a 34 acre purpose-built campsite with wooded areas, trails and a creek to explore. Age appropriate STEAM programs are incorporated into our weekly camp activity schedule. Swimming, snorkeling and water aerobics are a few ways our campers enjoy the pool on a daily basis. Fun activities include archery, basketball, soccer, gaga ball, volleyball, group games, arts, crafts and more!

Day Camp Counselor schedule is Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 4:00pm. Weekly payroll. 2026 Camp Dates are June 1st – August 7th. Job Details The Day Camp Counselor provides direction, supervision and support while facilitating a positive camping experience for all campers. The Day Camp Counselor has primary responsibility for those campers specifically assigned to the individual counselor. You will offer active, engaged and continuous supervision to all children and participate in maintenance of the facility after activities.
