Job DetailsJob Location: York, PA 17403Job Summary: Under the leadership of the Camp Director and Assistant Director, assures the safety and security of campers and other staff, works directly with campers during all aspects of camp programming, provides personal care to campers as needed, maintains the orderliness and cleanliness of the camp buildings and grounds, and communicates with support staff, parents, and other Arc staff in the best interests of the campers.
Duties/
Responsibilities:
Be ever watchful to prevent injury and maintain the safety and security of every camper. Respond appropriately if a camper is injured.
- Assist campers with activities of daily living (toileting, eating, changing clothes, washing face and hands), with ambulation or operation of mobility technology, etc. Support the campers emotionally
Be attentive to their moods/emotional needs and to their behaviors that might suggest emotional upset, anger, sadness, etc. Respond appropriately to campers’ emotions and behaviors
- Assist campers with the various activities offered by camp programming (sports, art, music, swimming, playground activity, etc.) Carefully follow directions given through camp policies and procedures and through direct communication from supervisors (unit leader, Assistant Camp Director, Camp Director).
- Communicate significant information
about:
campers to unit leader/Camp Asst. Director/Camp Director and to parents, as appropriate. Clean up assigned areas, put supplies and equipment away, keep camp orderly and safe. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Accommodations: The employee is responsible for making the employer aware of the need for accommodation.
The Arc will make accommodations to an extent possible. Accommodations cannot impact effectiveness of the employee and cannot cause undue business hardship to The Arc or its programs.
Qualifications:
Orientation: June 22nd to June 24th Camp Season: Monday through Friday: July 6th to August 7th Required
Skills:
/Abilities: Knowledge of appropriate interaction with children and young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Safety precautions with children and young adults who are vulnerable to danger Mastery of English language Basic math Time management Maintain confidentiality Has ability to communicate effectively with campers, parents, and other staff.

to perform tasks may include but not limited to: Must be able to lift and/or move at least 25 lbs The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, reach, extend, lift, and carry weights. Frequently use hands to finger, handle, and reach with arms and hands below or at the waist level and above shoulder height.
Be able to pull, push, lift, or carry. Be able to stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl. Constantly be able to talk or communication, hear, taste, or smell. Specific vision abilities may include close vision; color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Be exposed to all outside weather conditions (including but not limited to sun, rain, heat, cold, snow, etc.), dust, and fumes while working.

Minimum Requirements:
Background Checks Child Line Pennsylvania State Police FBI Finger Printing Dependable transportation to and from Camp Pennwood for daily attendance.
