Job Description
OVERVIEW:
The Day Camp Coordinator plans, organizes, and leads daily activities for the Summer Day Camp program. They work with Corps Officers beforehand to create an engaging curriculum, and once camp begins, they coordinate group activities,
- lead devotions, guide counselors, and assist with administrative tasks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with planning and leading engaging daily and weekly programs
- Lead daily chapel program
- Organize weekly activities and one weekly outing
- Ensure staff understand expectations and assignments
- Direct daily program activities through clear communication
- Create and share weekly schedules, including staff assignments
- Provide field trip details to families and staff
- Make daily announcements
- Provide staff leadership
- Ensure staff complete and submit timesheets daily
- Schedule and enforce all required breaks
- Support staff training with the Corps Officer
- Teach and lead camp songs, games, and other activities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of program areas
- Oversee camper check-in and check-out each day
- Coordinate and supervise free-time activity areas
- Handle progressive discipline for campers and staff as needed
- Promote positive camper and staff experiences through activities and
spiritual development
- Assist with transporting campers to field trip destinations
- Other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 21 years of age (required)
- Valid driver’s license (required)
- Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification (required)
- Previous day camp, camp, or childcare experience (required)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Program planning and leadership skills
- Strong communication skills
EQUIPMENT USED:
- Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes)
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist as needed
- Ability to grasp, push, and pull tools and objects
