Summer Camp Counselor

We are seeking creative and energetic Camp Counselors for Camp Kaleidoscope Junior (ages 5-10 years) and Camp Kaleidoscope Senior (ages 11-14 years)!

Camp Kaleidoscope Jr. will be based at the Avery Street Recreation Center and Camp Kaleidoscope Sr. will be based at the Garner Recreation Center. Counselors can be placed at either camp, depending on staff availability at each camp.

Our Junior camp will run from June 15 - August 14 and our Senior Camp will run from June 15 – July 30. All Counselors are expected to work through August 14. Camp hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Staff orientation and training will be held in late May, early June during late afternoon and early evening hours.

Examples of Duties:

• Counselors will work in teams under the guidance of professional staff, to assist in planning and leading a variety of activities, arts & crafts projects and games for small groups of campers.
• Counselors will help ensure participants make lifelong memories!

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Applicants who are 16 years old must have completed the Junior Counselor Leadership Program.

Previous experience working with children and being a positive role model is strongly encouraged.

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Applicants who are at least 21 years of age and have a valid North Carolina driver's license and good driving record are preferred and will complete on-the-job training to safely operate a 15-passenger van.

Candidates selected for hire will be required to attend Camp Staff Orientation in late May, early June. First Aid/CPR/ AED training will be conducted during that orientation. Camp will run June 15 - August 14.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This is a seasonal position scheduled for 32-36 hours per week.
