Job description:
AMERI-CANS is seeking a full-time Plumber Technician to support large-scale water and waste system installations for construction site trailers and jobsite infrastructure. This is a highly skilled, field-based role responsible for designing, installing, auditing, and troubleshooting complex temporary plumbing systems while serving as a subject matter expert for Operations and Maintenance teams. This position plays a critical role in ensuring system reliability, safety, compliance, and consistent installation quality across all AMERI-CANS markets.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Install and set up temporary water and waste systems for construction site trailers, including tanks, pump houses, supply lines, and waste lines.
- Ensure proper system layout, slope, alignment, insulation, heat trace, and secure connections for reliable, year-round operation.
- Conduct job site evaluations to determine optimal system placement based on terrain, access, grade, and trailer layout.
- Test, troubleshoot, and repair water and waste systems, including leaks, pressure issues, blockages, and pump failures.
- Audit existing installations to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with AMERI-CANS standards and applicable regulations.
- Serve as the plumbing subject matter expert, providing guidance, training, and technical support to Operations and Maintenance teams.
- Maintain safety standards, OSHA compliance, and proper documentation for all installations and inspections.
- Communicate clearly with site supervisors, general contractors, and internal teams regarding system status and recommendations.
Requirements:
Licensing & Certifications
- State-issued Journeyman or Master Plumber License (or ability to obtain based on state requirements).
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification (required or ability to obtain).
- Backflow Prevention Certification.
Experience Requirements:
- 3–7 years of plumbing experience in residential, commercial, industrial, or construction environments.
- Experience installing water supply lines, waste lines, pump systems, holding tanks, and temporary plumbing systems.
- Field experience working on uneven terrain, remote job sites, or active construction environments.
- Experience with insulation, heat trace installation, and freeze protection methods.
- Strong troubleshooting experience with leaks, pressure issues, blockages, and pump failures.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read site plans, grade levels, layout diagrams, and manufacturer installation documentation.
- Ability to calculate proper fall/slope for gravity waste lines (⅛"–¼" per foot depending on diameter).
- Understanding of pump curves, flow rates, and pressure requirements.
- Knowledge of PVC, ABS, PEX, flexible hose systems, and industrial fittings used in temporary setups.
- Ability to safely use trenching tools, leveling equipment, and compact equipment (skid steer or mini-excavator a plus).

- Ability to train, mentor, and oversee plumbing quality for other employees.

- Adaptable in fast-paced and unpredictable construction environments.
Preferred but Not Required:
- Experience working with portable sanitation, mobile systems, or jobsite trailers.
- Experience installing temporary water/waste systems, pump houses, or tank-based systems.
- CDL or ability to tow large trailers.
- Ability to operate small equipment such as skid steers, mini-excavators, or telehandlers.
Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are the representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Position requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time; move fingers and hands, ability to stoop, crawl, bend, twist, reach, and crouch. Perform the essential duties with minimal or no supervision. Lift and carry up to 50lbs and drag 185lbs.
