Job Summary:

• Maintain areas according to the approved Landscaping Plan, which mainly comprises of mowing grass areas and support of the maintenance and cleanliness of Xanterra’s operations at Mount Rushmore

The Details:

Position Type: Seasonal Season Dates: May 2026 - early October 2026 Pay: $16.25/hour

• Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities:

Operate and use a manual push mower to cut the grasses in designated areas. Operate weed eater and leaf blower to remove grass, leaves, bugs, cobwebs, etc. from sidewalks, driveways, and public areas. Remove grass or weeds growing in planter boxes, sidewalk and other specified areas, complying with NPS regulations and Xanterra policies.

Pick up and properly dispose of litter, cigarette butts, trash, and tree debris. May assist with other tasks related to maintenance.

• Follow Company and departmental environmental and safety practices, policies, and procedures.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Previous experience operating a push lawn mower and weed eater. Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record for the past 3 years. Able to read, understand and comply with all current company policies and procedures.

• Comply with all current related safety and health requirements.

Must possess physical stamina and condition to withstand heavy labor related work in an outside environment at elevations exceeding 5000 feet. Must be able to work outside in varying temperatures, including high temperatures over 90 degrees F Willing to “pitch-in” and help the team with tasks. Must be a positive team player with flexible schedules who like to have fun and have the passion to work.

Physical Requirements include:

Constantly walking, reach outward, lift/carry 10-20 pounds, and push/pull 12-40 pounds. Frequently stand, handling, bend, and lifting/carrying 21-50 pounds. Occasionally sit, reach above shoulder, climbing, crawling, squatting/kneeling, lifting/carrying 51-100 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 41-100 pounds.
