POSITION SUMMARY: The YMCA of Southern Nevada is looking for enthusiastic, energetic, and dedicated candidates for our Summer Camp programs! You will supervise groups of children and implement YMCA activities under the direction of the Youth Development Director.

for the kids, families and communities we serve! This is a seasonal in person position with mandatory training dates of May 16th- May 23rd. Summer camp starts May 26th running Monday-Friday throughout the summer, ending on August 7th. We are hiring for all four YMCA locations (Bill and Lillie Heinrich, Durango Hills, Centennial Hills, Skyview YMCAs) Y Camp keeps kids physically active through games, sports, and pool time.
Creativity is sparked and learning is promoted through crafts, skits, camp songs, literacy activities, and STEAM projects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics). Character is developed through our Y Ties Initiative, conflict resolution skill building, and by instilling the Y’s Core Values (Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, and Caring) throughout the day.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Leads and participates in group activities and performs related
skills:
(e.g., crafts, STEAM, sports, reading, and games).
- Follows specific YMCA Camp Standard Operating Procedures (e.g., check-in/out of participants, parent greeting, cleaning and straightening of supplies in the area).
- Implements program activities and special events.
Promotes and embraces Character Development in curriculum. Serves as a positive role model for program participants.
- Builds and maintains a high-standard of member service for all program participants.
Promotes safety as an overriding objective in all programming efforts.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS: 1.:
- Adheres to policies related to boundaries with children.
2. Attends required abuse risk management training. 3.
- Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.

The employee needs sufficient strength, agility and mobility to supervise activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations. The employee may work in outside weather conditions. The employee needs the ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate management techniques. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually high.

Summer Camp Training - Mandatory training May 16th - 23rd Working with Children training within 30 days of hire Within 30 days of hire, current American Red Cross CPR for the professional rescuer (includes AED) and First Aid Certifications 18 years or older preferred. 16 years or older required.
