ASSISTANT SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR

The Leonardo seeks Assistant Summer Camp Counselors to join our team and mission to fuse science, technology, and art in experiences that inspire creativity and innovation in people of all ages and backgrounds.

OVERVIEW 

Assistant Summer Camp Counselors support our mission by assisting our STEAM Educators in the performance of daily functions and facilitation of summer camps by guiding campers through a variety of hands-on activities related to science, technology, and art topics, as well as ensuring a safe and fun environment for children to learn.

• Pay Rate: $15 per hour
• Schedule: Seasonal/Temporary, Part-time positions available:
  • Part-time: 20-23 hours/week, Monday – Friday, 8:00am - 12:30pm OR 12:00pm - 4:30pm
• Dates of Employment: June 2, 2025 – August 15, 2025 (off June 16-20, July 4, and July 21-25)
• Reports to: Education Manager

WHAT YOU’LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:

• Receive training on all things Summer Camps and Education at The Leonardo
• Assist our Education Team in teaching STEAM-based lessons for elementary-level children, ensuring an excellent experience for all involved.
• Prepare and help supervise camp classrooms, enforcing proper health, safety, and behavioral protocols
• Provide other program-related assistance as needed

WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED:

• Education: A desire to work within the field of education is strongly preferred
• Experience: Experience working with youth and/or students, or other experience related to responsibilities above, required
• Competencies: Dependable and punctual; Patient, understanding, and helpful with children; Courteous and personable when dealing with the public; Self-directed and willing to take initiative; Detail-oriented, able to complete repetitive prep work and stay on task
• Physical/Other Requirements: Must be able to stand and walk around for long periods of time; Must be able to regularly lift up to 25 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs, and rarely over 50 lbs; If under age 18, a parent’s authorization will be required; Due to working with K-12 students, you must pass a background check
