About Wildlife Works

Founded in 1997, Wildlife Works is community-centered wildlife conservation company that implements market-based initiatives to protect the planet’s threatened wilderness and endangered wildlife. The company was founded on the premise that if we want wildlife in our world, it has to work for local communities who share their environment. Wildlife Works’ conservation projects drive direct financing to forest communities to fund their own economic development while preventing millions of tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions from entering the atmosphere annually

through the REDD+ marketplace. Recognized as a leader in the REDD+ sector, Wildlife Works is the first company to achieve verification under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and the Climate Community and Biodiversity Standard (CCB). Through a community-led conservation strategy, Wildlife Works projects currently protect 1.3 million hectares of threatened forests and more than 20 IUCN-listed endangered species, helping to prevent over 50 million tons of CO₂ emissions from deforestation and forest degradation to date. Fifteen new high impact projects in threatened tropical forests across the Global South are on the horizon.
