Job Description:

Frostburg State University (FSU), Center for Advancement of Natural and Outdoor Experiences (CANOE) & Frostburg Outdoor Recreation Economy Institute (FOREI) seeks applications for a full-time, grant-funded, nonexempt, temporary Contractual 1 (C1) Intern. Hourly rate is $25.00 with an expected contract of 400 hours finishing at the end of Summer 2025.

Responsibilities:

Program Management:

• Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating assigned program initiatives.
• Coordinate and manage day-to-day operations of assigned programs.
• Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and key milestones.
• Assist with grant writing, management, reporting, and budgeting.
• Assist with program meetings, events and other convenings. 

Marketing and Communications:

• Develop and implement a marketing strategy to promote programs and increase engagement.
• Create and manage content for social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) to highlight program activities and successes.
• Assist with the design and distribute newsletters to program participants, stakeholders, and partners, keeping them informed about program developments and upcoming events.
• Monitor and update program websites or program pages as needed.

Administrative Support:

• As assigned, maintain and organize program documentation, files, and databases.
• Attend meetings, events, and workshops as assigned.
• Assist in managing program budgets.

Data Collection & Reporting:

• Gather, compile, and analyze data related to program performance.
• Prepare reports on program outcomes, challenges, and successes.
• Provide recommendations for program improvements.

Event Coordination:

• Assist with the planning and coordinate program-related events, workshops, and training sessions.
• Assist with event logistics, including venue booking, catering, and materials preparation.

Other Duties:

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently a college student pursuing a degree in business, recreation, marketing, or related fields.
• Graduate students preferred; undergraduate students are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to work independently and with interdisciplinary teams.
• Highly motivated and organized.
• Valid driver’s license & access to reliable transportation.

The FSU Center for Advancement of Natural and Outdoor Experiences (CANOE) is a program of the Department of Recreation and Parks Management at Frostburg State University. FSU CANOE is a dedicated center at Frostburg State University that serves as a catalyst for advancing outdoor and natural experiences for students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community. This center will serve as a hub of knowledge, resources, and engagement, offering many opportunities to enrich individuals’ connections with the outdoors, fostering personal growth, education, and lifelong outdoor exploration.
