The Alaska Club is currently hiring Lead Camp Counselors at our East Anchorage and South Fairbanks clubs. We are a state-wide network of fitness clubs offering state-of-the-art facilities for all things fitness. We offer camp programs throughout the year for kids ages 5-12.

The role of Lead Camp Counselor is a fun and dynamic position that offers a great team environment and flexible work schedule. Our Lead Camp Counselors foster a fun environment for kids by facilitating a variety of activities to keep kids active and stimulated. They also ensure a safe environment and communicate daily with families and agencies as needed. Join our team and help develop your leadership and teaching skills.

Requirements:

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • 12 semester hours or college credits in early childhood development, child development, child psychology, or the equivalent OR hold a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or Montessori Certificate
  • Must have an understanding of the development of children.
  • Must have the skills to work with children, family members, department staff, community agencies, and fellow staff.
  • Ability to handle finances and plan and evaluate programs.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Ability to multi-task and lead group activities (arts & crafts, sports, games, etc).
  • Prior camp experience (preferred).

Working Conditions:

  • Supervising and accounting for kids ages 5-12
  • Ensuring the safety of all camp kids
  • Supporting fellow Camp Counselors and cooperating as a team
  • Standing and moving to facilitate activities
