Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley National Park - Journey Beyond the Ordinary. Stovepipe Wells has an 80-room hotel, restaurant, bar, pool, gas station, general store, and gift shop.  Stovepipe is a welcoming, safe, and environmentally responsible resort providing accommodations and services inside Death Valley National Park. Over the next few years, the resort will undergo upgrades to rejuvenate accommodations and dining for public enjoyment.  POWDR operates Stovepipe Wells under a long-term concession contract with the National Park Service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Greet and assist visitors, answer questions and explain regulations.  

  • Run Daily Reports to audit and balance all department accounts,  

  • Accurately process all cash and credit card transactions using established procedures 

  • Take payments and post accurately to guest accounts 

  • Follows set policies regarding cash handling 

  • Completes and sends daily, monthly, quarterly reports to the GM and site management team. 

  • Communicates with other departments in a friendly and professional manner 

  • Be aware of local attractions and restaurants and make recommendations to guests 

  • Handle incoming telephone calls and other guest communication in a discreet fashion 

  • Accurately communicate with other shifts regarding issues arising from day-to-day operations. 

  • Communicates employee call outs by email to department supervisors, HR, and GM. 

  • Observe and report security and safety of visitors and staff to the Manager on Duty (MOD) 

  • Report all emergency, medical and security related situations as trained in company emergency action plans and notify MOD. 

  • De-escalate situations as trained  

  • Do not attempt to discipline or apprehend any park violators.  Front Desk/Night Auditor will report all disturbances to the Manager on Duty (MOD) 

  • Keep a written report of complaints and criticism of park facilities, report situations that could affect the health and safety of visitors and report any security and safety concerns which need immediate attention.  

  • Maintain other written records as requested by the Management

Work Location: 

  • Due to the in-person nature of the hospitality business, this position is on-site. Housing will be provided on-site.    

  • A flexible schedule with commuting from Pahrump, Beatty or Las Vegas will be considered.  

  • Due to the nature of our business, Stovepipe Wells Village is open every day.You must be prepared to work a schedule which may include Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: 

  • Able to work and thrive in Death Valley National Park. 

  • RoomMaster experience a plus 

  • Technical skills for accounting and data entry required. 

  • Establish successful working relationships with co-workers, Park Service and the public. 

  • Ability to get along well with people, be honest, punctual and reliable. 

  • Ability to remain calm and friendly. 

  • Ability to physically be out to make rounds throughout the resort.  

  • Ability to adapt to changing work conditions. 

  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.  

  • Minimum 3 year’s work experience in accounting or cash handling. 

  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal essential 

  • Ability to work in a multi-tasking, fast paced environment 

  • High school diploma required 

  • Current CPR w/AED and First Aid medical certification is desired, and certification is provided on-the-job upon hire 

  • Ability to work all shifts, including weekends, evenings and holidays 

Compensation:  

 

  • $17-$21 per hour, doe On-site housing included.
