Overnight Summer Camp Counselor – Easterseals Florida Camp Challenge

Stipend: $405 per week
Location: Camp Challenge, Sorrento, Florida

At Easterseals Florida Camp Challenge, we provide a fully accessible camp experience for adolescents and adults with disabilities and special needs. Our camp is a place filled with laughter, friendship, and fun-and our camp counselors play a crucial role in making that happen! We are currently seeking energetic, motivated, and creative individuals to join our team and help provide a memorable camp experience.

Position Overview:

As a camp counselor, you'll assist campers in a variety of recreational activities, including sports, nature walks, arts and crafts, swimming, and talent shows. You'll also help with fun camp traditions, such as roasting s'mores around the campfire. Additionally, counselors assist campers with personal care needs, which may include supporting with meals, bathing, dressing, toileting, sensory needs, and helping manage challenging behaviors.

Camp Schedule:

• Monday, June 30 – Friday, July 4, 2025 (Summer Session 2)

• Sunday, July 6 – Saturday, July 12, 2025 (Summer Session 3)

• Sunday, July 13 – Saturday, July 19, 2025 (Summer Session 4)

Ideal for Students in:

• Psychology

• Social Work

• Physical, Speech, or Occupational Therapy

• Nursing

• And other related fields seeking hands-on experience

We welcome individuals who need internship hours, practicum hours, or just want to gain invaluable experience working with individuals with disabilities and special needs.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED, or one to three months related experience and/or training

• Must be at least 18 years old

• Compassion, energy, and creativity

• Ability to assist in the physical care of campers, including lifting and transferring

• CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred (training provided)

• Strong teamwork and communication skills

• A passion for working with individuals with disabilities
