We are seeking a dedicated Park Ranger to join our Parks and Recreation team at the City of Weston. This role combines both administrative and field responsibilities to ensure that our parks, facilities, and programs remain safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for the community. The Park Ranger plays a vital part in overseeing recreational activities, assisting with events, monitoring safety conditions, and providing exceptional customer service to residents and visitors.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Monitor daily activities in City parks, including athletic events, shelter rentals, special events, and general use, ensuring adherence to park rules and policiesConduct inspections and assist with general maintenance of recreational facilities, including restrooms, playgrounds, picnic shelters, sidewalks, athletic fields, and the Community Center.

Support City events, including setup, coordination, and on-site assistance; some events may take place on weekends or holidays.

Open and close park gates, operate athletic field lighting systems, and assist with facility operations during evening and weekend programs.

Assist patrons at the Community Center front desk by providing park information, registering participants for programs, and managing facility rentals.

Identify and report safety concerns, equipment needs, and supply requirements to the Director or designee.

Serve as part of the City’s Emergency Management Team, including preparation and recovery efforts during hurricanes and tropical storms; be available for 24-hour emergency response when required.

Communicate effectively and professionally with contractors, athletic groups, community organizations, and the public.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Parks and Recreation Department.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Extensive knowledge of recreation and athletic programming, special event planning, and facility operations.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Proficiency in computer and mobile applications for administrative tasks and work order management.

Knowledge of safety procedures and occupational hazards related to parks and recreation.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, contractors, and the general public.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a team-oriented mindset
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Public Administration, or related field preferred.

Three (3) years of supervisory experience in a public or private parks and recreation setting, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
