Park Ranger

WORK SCHEDULE
Variable schedules of 4-8 hrs per shift: 20-30 hrs week, Monday-Sunday including evenings, weekends, and holidays. 

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES 
Responsible for opening and closing parks and park buildings. Patrol parks by vehicle and foot and provide security for all City Park trails and recreational buildings. Able to set up and take down tables, chairs and displays, and perform light maintenance and cleaning. Provide information to park users, enforce park rules, and assist with site and room clean up. Ability to answer and text on a cell phone.

SPECIAL SKILLS & TRAINING 
Must be 18 years of age. Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license with a good driving record to drive a city vehicle to and from all parks.  Must also be able to operate a golf cart and do extensive walking over all types of terrain, in all types of weather. Ability to communicate via cell phone. 

PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE
Some experience working in outdoor programming, parks, environmental education or related experience is helpful. 

EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent.
