The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Wildlife Conservation is recruiting for a Program Coordinator 1 located in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, or Palmer!


Starting wages vary depending on location:
Program Coordinator 1
Anchorage/Palmer: $35.28/Hourly
Fairbanks: $36.34/Hourly
Juneau: $37.04/Hourly


What you will be doing:

This statewide position will provide promotion, coordination, support, and public outreach to support mission delivery and increase funding (alternative revenue)opportunities. The incumbent will utilize social media, information technologies, out-of-state advertising, personal contact and other strategies to support outreach efforts, identify and partner with NGOs and others to promote the brand (Division of Wildlife Conservation) and the product (wildlife recreation opportunities); focus specific efforts to enhance revenue to support the division's mission; and engage in programs and projects that recruit and retain customers.

The Partner Outreach Coordinator is part of DWC Headquarters staff and provides an opportunity to work with DWC partners and others to provide support for the mission and identify opportunities for generating alternative revenue. As part of the DWC team, the position will work with other division staff, department leadership team members, and a variety of ADF&G friends, supporters, and partner organizations. The position will work independently and include non-traditional working hours and travel to and attendance at partner events throughout Alaska and outside the state. There will be opportunities for the incumbent to build important relationships with others inside and outside of the department that will enhance their career potential and increase their value to the agency.


The working conditions you can expect:

The position will be located in either the Juneau, Anchorage, Fairbanks or Palmer Regional office and will also spend a substantial amount of time away from the office either meeting with partners and/or attending events to support the mission and fundraising efforts. Location is dependent on available office space, and the position is eligible for telework. In this position the incumbent will be in regular contact with our traditional partners (e.g., Outdoor Heritage Foundation of Alaska, Wild Sheep Foundation, Safari Club International, etc.) and others. The work hours and time spent in the office will be variable and depend on the travel and attendance at events and meetings hosted by partner organizations and others.

  • Requires travel within the state (often one or two trips a month of up to two days length)and occasional travel outside the state (generally to one or more of the lower 48 states).

We are looking for an individual with the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to establish, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with agency staff, partner organizations, user groups, and the public.
  • Good planning/organizational skills are necessary; strong oral and written communication skills are recommended for success.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply social media, information technologies, marketing tactics, communication networks, and other platforms to promote and deliver DWC mission and product.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task efficiently, communicate effectively with others and coordinate multiple program components/support activities.
  • Willingness and ability to work irregular schedules including some weekends, evenings, overnight stays, and occasional multiple-day trips away from home and the office.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in

 

  • Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.

 

  • Compliance: Knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and guidance.

 

  • Decision Making: Makes sound, well-informed, and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions; commits to action, even in uncertain situations, to accomplish organizational goals; causes change.

 

  • Planning and Evaluating: Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.

 

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

Training from an accredited college or university in any field and/or progressively responsible experience assisting with planning, coordinating, and implementing administrative controls, work processes, and/or procedures for a program, project, business, or organization.
