The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Wildlife Conservation is recruiting
for a Project Assistant (RCSP Range Manager) located in Anchorage!
What you will be doing:
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Wildlife Conservation is recruiting for the Range Manager (Project Assistant) of the Rabbit Creek Shooting Park in Anchorage!
This position operates, manages, and maintains the daily range operations for over 35,000 annual users. Duties include:
Supervision of three full-time and two part-time staff, plus volunteer range safety officers who assist in ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for over 35,000 annual users.
Maintaining safe public shooting opportunities which include archery, handguns, centerfire rifles, .22 rifles, instructor ranges, and 5-stand shotgun fields.
Coordination with HIT Program staff on classroom and range logistics to provide educational courses/clinics with both the HIT Program and private firearm education trainers.
Completes daily financial transactions and purchases supplies.

The working conditions you can expect:
The position is based at the Rabbit Creek Shooting Park, located in south Anchorage adjacent to the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge. The incumbent will be in contact daily with the public, volunteers, and ADF&G staff. The position works both indoors and outdoors daily. This is a 12-month position, with a normal shift of 10:00 am – 6:30 pm on Wednesday –Sunday when the facility is open for public use.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for an individual with the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:Strong understanding of firearms and ammunition, firearms safety, firearms maintenance, and hunting practices and culture.
Knowledge of cash registers, financial transactions, computers, and common business software.
Experience working in a customer-service environment with strong interpersonal and customer-relations skills.
Demonstrated supervisory skills and experience working as part of a team
Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to positively interact with management and administrative staff, vendors, RCSP staff, the public, private firearm education trainers, and volunteers.
Basic construction, mechanical, and electronic abilities and basic knowledge of operating equipment including UTVs, plow trucks, riding lawn mowers, and forklifts.
Strong organizational and administrative skills to schedule use of the range by a variety of user groups, ensure adequate staffing, supplies, and maintenance, and monitor budgets and sales at the front counter.
