Job Summary:

Ski & Snowboard Instructors at Wasatch Peaks Ranch deliver world-class instruction to members and guests of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities—ranging from complete beginners to advanced, double-black-diamond skiers and riders. This is both a teaching and hospitality role, representing our welcoming, professional, and discreet culture while ensuring safety, skill development, and memorable experiences.

Job Duties

Instruction & Guest Experience

  • Deliver high-level ski or snowboard instruction for all skill levels.
  • Customize lesson plans to match individual needs, learning styles, and goals.
  • Demonstrate techniques and movements with professionalism and clarity.
  • Offer a personalized, concierge-style experience before, during, and after lessons.
  • Remember guest names, preferences, and prior lesson details for a bespoke approach.
  • Engage guests warmly and professionally to build loyalty and trust.
  • Assist guests with fitting, adjusting, and caring for ski/snowboard equipment.
  • Represent WPR brand values on and off the mountain.

Teamwork & Professionalism:

  • Maintain impeccable grooming, uniform, and personal conduct.
  • Exhibit discretion, tact, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Report guest feedback, concerns, or incidents promptly to management.
  • Participate in regular skills, safety, and hospitality training.
  • Collaborate with fellow instructors and other resort teams to ensure a safe, productive, and guest-focused environment.
  • Coordinate with ski valet and Outfitters to ensure proper gear is provided.
  • Work with guest services or concierge to coordinate lesson bookings and schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety & Risk Management:

  • Ensure guest safety at all times, including correct equipment use and adherence to mountain safety protocols.
  • Monitor weather, slope conditions, and avalanche risks, adjusting plans accordingly.
  • Guide clients through rigorous, steep, and challenging terrain safely.
  • Collaborate closely with ski patrol, valet, and Outfitters teams for seamless operations.

Licenses and Special Requirements:

  • Advanced skiing/riding ability (comfortable in black to double black terrain).
  • PSIA- AASI Level I in primary discipline plus minimum 1 year of instruction experience.
  • PSIA-AASI Children’s Specialist I preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound decision-making skills and adaptability.
  • Ability to teach in steep and challenging terrain.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • You must be at least 18 years of age to qualify for this position.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to use two-way radios, beacons, and emergency communication devices.
  • Capable of giving and following clear verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to visually inspect areas for safety and hazards.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, ski/ride, lift, twist, bend, kneel, and balance for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying and potentially hazardous conditions.
