SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

As a Ski Instructor, you are expected to be Punctual, Professional, Patient, and Positive. Instructors play a crucial role in the Spirit Mountain guest experience, so it is essential to be passionate about sharing your love for skiing and helping others enjoy the sport.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Instruct groups and/or individuals in a fun lesson format.
  • Teach proper skiing techniques appropriate to the ability level of those being instructed.
  • Promote safety and give students the knowledge to remain safe when they leave lessons to ski on their own.
  • Participate in clinics and free-skiing to constantly improve personal skiing skills.
  • Attend PSIA clinics and take appropriate exams on an ongoing basis.
  • Participate in pre-season clinics.
  • Greet guests and direct them to the proper lesson locations.
  • Successfully complete instructor training.


NOTE: All Ski Instructors are required to perform alternate functions from time to time, both within and outside of their assigned department, particularly during peak periods such as holiday weekends.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Friendly and outgoing personality with strong communication skills.
  • Patience and a passion for teaching and the outdoors.
  • Proven ability to ski at an advanced level with the capability to instruct others.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) certification at levels I, II, or III.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to ski for prolonged periods (2+ hours) in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme cold, snow, wind, and rain, as well as indoors.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment as needed.
  • Ability to manage physical demands, including standing, walking, bending, and twisting.
