A day in the life of a JHS Summer Camp Counselor:
JHS Summer Camp counselors supervise groups of campers and actively participate with all kids in providing a program that meets the needs of both the individual child and the group. They plan and implement lessons, activities, and games that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with the JHS mission. Lessons focus on a wide range of topics within the guidelines of JHS's mission and beliefs including pet adoption, dog and cat body language and safety, pet care, community cats, and more. Summer Camp Counselors also model appropriate positive guidance techniques that include kind but firm redirection, positive reinforcement of children's efforts, and anticipation of potential problems.
JHS Summer Camp Counselors are teachers, role models, confidants, referees, nurses, counselors, kitten wranglers, dog handlers, and more!
