Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s): You will educate tribal citizens on conservation issues, provide information to tribal citizens on CNO fish, game, and animals code, and coordinate educational outreach programs for the Wildlife Conservation Department. You will report to the Conservation Education and Outreach Coordinator.

Primary Tasks:

1. You will participate in planning, coordination and implementation of conservation education and outreach programs. Help establish project goals and help develop the Division goals.

2. Develop or implement existing procedures for accomplishing assigned projects.

3. Develop conservation education and outreach programs which include definition of proposed projects, specifications, time schedules, expenses, equipment, supplies, and personnel needed to complete projects.

4. Prepare and submit annual project budgets including salaries, equipment, supplies, and maintenance for assigned projects. Maintain records for education programs. Prepare federal and grant reports.

5. You will work with target groups to identify areas of need in education and outreach.

6. Present programs to local civic, educational, youth, sportsmen and environmental groups.

7. Promote the CNO Wildlife Conservation Program using different media outlets (social media, radio, television, and newspaper). Coordinate website material and produce content for social media.

8. Conduct classes, workshops, clinics, and seminars in hunter and angler education and natural resource conservation. Train volunteers in the implementation of educational programs.

9. Perform other responsibilities, management, or non-management, as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in communication, education, or conservation, OR four [4] years of directly related experience in lieu of education.
  • Experience in Microsoft Suite
  • Public speaking experience.
  • Experience in education or communications.


Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and delivering conservation education programs to the public, including school groups
  • Organize and set up displays and exhibits for educational purposes
  • Support fisheries and wildlife management by participating in surveys and data collection
  • Help maintain records and prepare reports on program outcomes and conservation efforts
  • Engage with the community to promote conservation messages and the work of the Choctaw Nation
  • Collaborate with the Coordinator on project ideas and contribute to their successful execution


Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 1+ year of experience in conservation, education, or related field.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with the public.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
  • Interest in wildlife and fisheries conservation and a desire to educate others about environmental topics.
