Job Description
Position Title: Zoological Park Attendant
Reports To: Budlings and Grounds Manager
Budlings and Grounds Supervisor
Position Objective
To maintain WCS equipment, facilities and grounds.
Principle Responsibilities - Clean, patrol grounds, buildings, property, and structures of assigned areas.
- Assist in the movement of WCS equipment and supplies to all areas of the park as required.
- Provide room/event setup and takedown as assigned (chairs, tables, podiums, etc).
- Operate equipment such as snow throwers, leaf blowers, carpet extractors, vacuums, buffing machines, Kaivac cleaning machines, etc.
- Display proficiency and skill in the use of tools and cleaning materials associated with applicable tasks.
- Offer assistance to aquarium guests with wayfinding, daily schedules, operating hours, etc.
- Perform mail/supply run to the Bronx Zoo as requested and scheduled (with valid driver's license and training).
Internal Qualification RequirementsMinimum Qualifications
Experience in the use of cleaning and snow removal equipment.
Ability to represent WCS in a professional manner and to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with employees, colleagues, and the general public.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license (preferred).
Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays, evenings, special events, and overtime as the schedule demands.
Physical Demands
The physical demands include but are not limited to the use of a Keyboard, 10-key, Mouse, and Telephone Use, Handwriting, Sitting, Standing, Crouching, Kneeling, Bending, Walking, Stair Climbing, minimal Driving, and Lifting up to 50lbs.
Workplace Conditions and Environment
The workplace conditions and environment of the role include working indoors, closely with others, and/or alone, exposure to excess noise, operating power tools and equipment, and use sharp tools and equipment.
