The Specialist serves as a primary point of contact for employees regarding Workers’

In addition, the Specialist assists the Health & Safety Manager with the planning, implementation, and support of safety initiatives, trainings, safety campaigns, and employee safety recognition programs.
This includes helping coordinate Safety Month activities, safety committee efforts, near-miss reporting initiatives, and employee engagement related to safety performance and positive safety behaviors. At the direction of the Health & Safety Manager, the Specialist supports compliance with OSHA regulations and resort safety programs by assisting with audits, inspections, documentation, data tracking, and follow-up actions.
The role requires close collaboration with Business Unit Managers and Supervisors to promote safe work practices and ensure consistent application of safety procedures across all departments. This position reports directly to the Health & Safety Manager, who reports to the Director of Safety and Security.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.

- Assists in the design and direction of programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposures to long-term health hazards.
- Assists with identifying risk management, safety and compliance issues.
- Provides input and recommendations related to workplace and guest safety initiatives; assists with the coordination and promotion of safety campaigns such as Skier Safety Month, Spring Break safety initiatives, and other resort-wide safety efforts.
- Supports OSHA compliance efforts by assisting with documentation, audits, inspections, and tracking of corrective actions In conjunction with Health and Safety Manager, analyzes safety-training data and compliance results to Business Units, and senior leadership – provides recommendations for effective training topics and tactics.

Works with Special Events managers/coordinators to ensure consideration of elements of safety in planning and execution of events. Works with insurance, safety and risk management teams at other Alterra resorts to coordinate and exchange “best practices” and/or other corporate initiatives. Works with in-house Legal Counsel and other departments to ensure that contractors adhere to OSHA regulations and safety compliance while working at this resort.
- Participates in Job Hazard Analysis and risk assessments in coordination with the Human Resources Department for Business Units, departments, and other staff.
