The internship will give individuals an

to explore a career in paper or photography conservation. The Amon Carter Museum’s collection, comprising tens of thousands of photographs and works of art on paper, offers a unique learning

in art conservation. It is the aim of this internship program to promote diversity within the field of art conservation through offering paid internships and by encouraging individuals from underrepresented communities to apply. The intern will assist the conservation staff in a variety of activities including collection inventories, art conservation treatment, surveys, and re-housing, as well as day-to-day activities such as examination of works of art to be exhibited and documentation of their condition.

The interns will work directly with Conservation and Collections Management staff. They will learn

about:

art handling, housing materials and methods, as well as the history of artists' materials and techniques and the identification photographic and printing processes. The intern will be introduced to the American Institute for Conservation's Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice. This internship is open to: Currently enrolled undergraduate students, or recent graduates (within the last two years) with some

experience:

in art conservation and with backgrounds in science, humanities, or art and art history.
