Job Summary:â¯
The Camp Instructor leads engaging, age-appropriate activities and fosters a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for campers. This role is responsible for
- planning and facilitating daily camp programming while acting as a positive role
model and ensuring camper safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Activity Leadership
- Lead and supervise group activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games,
nature exploration, free swimming, and organized pool games, or themed educational sessions.
- Adapt programming to meet the needs, abilities, and interests of different
age groups.
- Ensure all activities are safe, organized, and inclusive.
Camper Engagement & Supervision
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment by actively supervising campers
throughout the day.
- Encourage participation, teamwork, and respectful behavior.
- Monitor and respond to camper needs, including minor injuries, emotional
- support, and conflict resolution.
- Supervise and engage with campers for daily pool activities.
Daily Camp Operations
- Assist with daily setup, cleanup, and maintenance of camp areas and supplies.
- Support arrival, dismissal, and transitions between activities.
- Enforce camp rules and emergency procedures as trained.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with fellow staff, counselors, and leadership to deliver
consistent and cohesive programming.
- Communicate regularly with supervisors about camper progress, incidents, or
concerns.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education,
child development, recreation, or related fields is a plus.
- Prior experience working with children in a camp, school, or youth program
preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Energetic, creative, and responsible with strong leadership skills.
- Ability to manage a group of children in a positive and engaging way.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
