Description:
Engineering/Construction NY Position Title: Resident Engineer Reports To: Assistant Vice President Company: CES Consultants, Inc. (CES) Location: New York, NY and surrounding areas – 75% travel to project site Job Type: Full-Time Position Overview The Resident Engineer will be responsible for providing Resident Engineering Inspection Services on a NYC Department of Design and Construction Complex Pedestrian Ramp Project in Manhattan.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the representative of DDC at the site responsible for the inspection, management, and administration of the construction work.
- Review and facilitate Contractor(s) Site Safety Plan submittals to DDC for acceptability.
- Monitor the conditions at the site for conformance with the Contractor’s Site Safety Plan, DDC policies, permits, and all applicable regulations and documentation that pertain to construction safety.
Notify the Contractor and DDC immediately upon determination of any condition or activity existing which is not in compliance with the Contractor’s Site Safety Plan, applicable federal, state or local codes or any condition that presents a potential risk of injury to the public or workers or possible damage to property.
Direct the Contractor to provide such labor, materials, equipment, and supervision to remedy such conditions.
- Maintain documentation of and attend weekly safety meetings and daily safety job briefings.
- Review and evaluate contractors’ proposed progress schedule; monitor contractors’ conformance; and recommend corrective action should a deviation occur.
- Maintain an accurate and detailed daily log of all projects related activities; initiating the preparation of field memorandums, letters, and accident reports; replying to community inquiries and complaints; and preparing comprehensive reports as required.
- Maintain custody of all construction related permits, plans, approvals, drawings, etc., related to the project and assure their availability on site.
Assure that Contractor(s) JHA’s are current to reflect the work tasks being performed, hazards, and control methods to mitigate the identified hazards. Verify that all employees at the job site are trained on the JHAs and maintain supporting documentation on site. Recognize, minimize, or eliminate jobsite and public hazards, through required planning, inspection, verification, and corrective action process.
Supervise all REI field personnel. Assure adequate planning for all critical construction activities (crane operation, excavation, confined space entry, etc.) including coordination between Contractor(s) /DDC/ other Agencies as required.

Active NYS Professional Engineer license. A baccalaureate degree in engineering from an accredited college. Minimum of five years of
experience:
in construction inspection or management of infrastructure projects specifically sewers, water mains and highways. Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards. Technical
