Golf Camp Counselor - Shawnee Hills

Cleveland Metroparks is currently seeking Golf Camp Counselors for Shawnee Golf Course. The Golf Camp Counselor assists in conducting daily camp activities, including golf instruction, etiquette, rules, playing and on course golf experience. This position involves direct interactions with children ages 8-17.

• Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland

Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.

• Supervises youth campers ensuring a safe and positive summer camp

experience.

• Provides proper instruction to campers in golf fundamentals including;

putting, chipping, and full swing.

• Teaches proper golf rules and course etiquette.
• Assists or conducts daily camp activities, i.e., putting contests, golf

baseball, kick ball, moving lunches and snacks/beverages.

• Prepares and ensures that necessary equipment is ready and in the correct

location, i.e., golf clubs and golf balls.

• Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or

concerns.

• Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to
• maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself,

co-workers and public.

• Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by

taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.

• Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in camp, zoo, aquarium, or nature center education

preferred Ability to provide proper instruction in the fundamentals of golf putting. chipping and full swing.

• Playing knowledge of the game of golf, including rules and etiquette.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with

stakeholders, including employees and the general public.

• Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct

grammar, spelling and punctuation with ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings.

• Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.
• Candidates are subject to a background check to include fingerprinting and

drug screen.

Work Shift:  Must be available to work Monday - Friday.
