Summary: Under the supervision of a Recreation Specialist, an incumbent in this class supports the Horticulturist and would assist in the installation of new landscapes and the maintenance of landscapes at facilities and parks in the county. Duties include general landscaping, planting, mulching, raking, edging, and weeding.
Must be able to operate and maintain landscaping equipment including hedge trimmers, weed eaters, small tractors and other light landscaping equipment, and must have
experience:
operating a pick-up truck pulling a trailer. A basic knowledge of landscaping materials and plants is also required. This person must also on occasion work with adult and children volunteers in the Adopt-a–Park program and they need to be able to communicate effectively with them. Job

Salary Range: $37,139.00-$99,026.00/Annually BUDGETED SALARY: $39,500.00 Essential Duties: Works ball diamonds; erects soccer and football goal posts; repairs back stops, basketball backboards, nets and rims. Puts together and installs bleachers and player seats. Removes trash from park and playground areas.
- Performs janitorial work.
Operates equipment such as hand and riding lawn mowers, infield machines, weed eaters, chain saws, and wood chipper.
- Drives cars and light-duty pickup trucks with small lowboy trailer, trash truck, and skidsteer loader.
Caulks windows; cleans buildings and machinery.
- Performs various semi-skilled carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical and other maintenance/repair work on park and maintenance/repair recreation and public school facilities.
Removes snow from office parking lots and clears ponds used for ice skating; is on 24-hour call during snowstorms and other emergencies; puts up snow fences, and works snowmobile used in evening, on weekends and holidays as required.
- Performs the duties of the Landscape/Gardener Option as needed: Assists in maintaining the gardens, greenhouse and grounds at Swan Harbor Farm and other facilities.
- Installs landscapes at new facilities.
Prunes shrubs, weeds, waters and mulches landscaped beds at parks throughout the county.
- Assists in the operations of the Adopt-A-Park program by hanging and taking down Adopt-A-Park signs, delivering plants to groups, and helping volunteer groups with landscape maintenance of their parks.

Graduation from high school, vocational-technical school, or possession of a GED certificate. Certifications, Licensures, and Examinations: Possession of a valid Class "C" non-commercial driver's license with no more than three (3) points.
