Quality & Safety Manager
Starting Pay: $70,000.00
As the Quality & Safety Manager for Pratt Industries – Houston, you will play a pivotal role in upholding our facility’s high standards for safety and quality. You will be responsible for developing and overseeing company safety programs, managing quality systems, and directing all production scheduling. This position
acts as the key liaison between production, sales, and customer service to
- ensure seamless and accurate order fulfillment.

- Proactive problem-solving to resolve critical quality defects and workplace
safety hazards.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct the Quality Management System (QMS) and drive continuous improvement
initiatives to optimize cost and service.
- Lead plant safety initiatives, including regulatory compliance, training, and
job design.
- Manage customer feedback and complaints using root cause analysis to
- implement corrective actions.
- Conduct and lead safety inspections, meetings, and new-hire safety
orientation programs.
- Track vendor performance and analyze quality data to generate performance
- reports.
- Oversee the light-duty program by coordinating with medical providers and
- developing appropriate tasks.
- Manage and maintain all documentation regarding work-related incidents and
workers' compensation.
- Collaborate with the Plant Manager to communicate operational needs regarding
quality and safety.
- Perform strategic planning to improve products and ensure a safe working
environment.
- Adhere to and enforce all plant Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Build and retain a customer-focused environment for both internal and
external stakeholders.

What You’ll Need to be Successful
- Education: College degree in manufacturing, engineering, logistics, or
equivalent work experience.
- Experience: Proven experience in manufacturing areas (production/logistics);
- leadership experience in corrugated or quality system management preferred.
- Language Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to
translate operational issues into clear procedures and listen effectively to team needs.
- Mathematical Skills: Competence in analyzing quality data, cost-avoidance
methods, and using statistical software.
- Reasoning Ability: Systemic problem-solver capable of handling multiple
complex priorities and identifying root causes.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with MS Office and statistical software;
familiarity with ISO standards and QMS.
- Physical Demands & Work Environment: Ability to stand/walk frequently and
lift up to 50 lbs. Work is performed in a loud manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts and humid conditions.
- Leadership Attributes: Assertive self-starter who inspires team loyalty,
- mentor others, and is confident in driving organizational change.
- Certifications: Previous ISO certification is highly preferred.
