JOB TITLE: Summer Camp Counselor FLSA STATUS: Seasonal
- REPORTS TO: Director of Youth Programming SUPERVISES: NONE

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Youth Programming, the Summer Camp Counselor plays a role in ensuring the health and safety of summer campers participating in weekly themed activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, supervise, and participate in camp-wide programming activities with campers of different ages
- Participate in workshop trainings held prior to camp sessions
- Work cooperatively with other Camp Counselors to ensure campers are safe, while maintaining adequate health and hygiene measures
- Build relationships with all campers by showing compassion, empathy and understanding
- Conduct roll call at the beginning and end of every activity
- Monitor each camper and communicate with them in an age-appropriate manner
- Prepare camp environment daily for activities
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of camp environment
- Report any incidents or misconduct to Director of Youth programming for proper handling of situations
- Provide positive feedback for parents
REQUIREMENTS:
- CPR/First Aid Certified or willingness to obtain
- At least 2 years working with elementary age kids
- Clothing should be clean and in good condition, and free from holes. Hats should be worn properly always.
- Maintain a neat, dressed nicely and well-groomed appearance.
- Ability to work successfully as a team member
- Ability to understand and follow instructions
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.

- Ability to work well with children and parents
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents, other Camp Counselors and campers
- Ability to motivate others towards learning new skills
- Ability to demonstrate responsible, ethical and professional conduct
- Ability to provide support and instruction to others
- Experience or education in working with children
- Patient and reliable

- Energetic and positive personality
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience working in customer service or hospitality
- Some High School
MUST be available to work the dates listed below
- June 8th through June 12th
- June 22nd through June 26th
- July 6th through July 10th
- July 20th through July 24th
- August 3rd through August 7th
