of Work The North Carolina Forest Service is a team of professionals who provide forest protection, emergency response, resource management and environmental

to the residents and landowners of North Carolina through a variety of programs. The NC Forest Service provides services to the 100 counties in North Carolina. The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative assistance and support to the District Forester in all division program areas.
Duties include budget management, accounting, human resource/personnel assistance, requisition, contracts, document creation, file organization, directing and reception of the public, maintenance of local computer/technology systems, and emergency response as needed relating to financial and/or administrative support of a wildfire or other emergency “all-risk” incident.
Key tasks include preparing and reviewing a variety of computer generated documents with accuracy, coding invoices for payment, identifying and keying budget revisions in the NCAS system, creating requisitions in the NC E-procurement System, reviewing and entering personnel time, reconciling purchasing card transactions, preparing contracts, and interpreting State, Department, and Agency policies to assist with insuring compliance throughout the district in all program areas.
Other roles include conducting new employee orientation, providing computer support and trouble-shooting to personnel when computer problems arise, and overseeing maintenance of office equipment and supplies. Emergency response duties include functioning as the Finance Section Chief on the District’s Incident Management Team and serving as operations dispatcher on low fire danger days.
Duties during periods of fire activity will include assisting or functioning as fire operations dispatcher with resource management, tracking, and documentation. Will be required to perform daily functions in the operations center. The NCFS is an Emergency Response Division– Work schedule may require extended work hours and possible duty on holidays, and weekends.
