Your New Role – Forest Management Technician - Recreation Technician As a Forest Management Technician, you will be working as a member of the State Forest Recreation Operations Program that is tasked with managing recreation facilities and non-motorized trails on across all state forest land.
You will be doing maintenance and janitorial work, supporting facility and trail projects, collecting and processing campground fees, supporting the work of volunteers, partners, and service providers, and assisting with a wide range of program activities that support the complete State Forest Recreation Operations Program.
Each year, the state forest recreation facilities and non-motorized trails are used by thousands of visitors, and you will play a key role in providing information to forest visitors while patrolling campgrounds, dispersed use areas, trailheads and day-use areas, and trails. Qualifications:
Eighteen months of
experience:
working in the field of Parks and Recreation Administration, Outdoor Recreation Management, Recreation Planning, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or Forestry
Education:
and Interpretation. OR Associate degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Outdoor Recreation Management, Recreation Planning, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Studies, Forestry; or a related natural resource field of study. OR An equivalent combination of
education:
and
experience:

- maintaining and cleaning recreation facilities, such as campgrounds, day use areas, picnic areas, and trailheads.
Excellent customer service

and the ability to provide exceptional customer service in a public setting. Motivated individual with the ability to set daily goals and to prioritize, organize and accomplish assigned tasks independently with general direction and minimal supervision. Good computer skill and the ability to work effectively with a variety programs (i.e., Microsoft Office, Excel, Geographic Info Systems/GIS.) Ability to walk on rough terrain or uneven slopes and trails, stoop or bend around structures or equipment or climb up/down ladders or equipment.
- Driver’s License Check - This position requires the operation of a state vehicle for the purpose of conducting official State business.
If your license is from outside Oregon, you must submit at least a three-year court/DMV printout. If you have an Oregon driver’s license, a record check will be conducted on top candidate to ensure a valid license and acceptable driving record.
