    Description:

    Sunset Bay State Park Near Coos Bay, Oregon **This recruitment will be used to fill multiple seasonal positions and may close at any time once vacancies are filled. Your New Role As a seasonal, full-time Park Ranger Assistant, you will assist year-round State Park staff with protecting, maintaining, operating, and repairing state park lands, natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment, and systems.

    You will typically focus on basic tasks in one area of park operations, such as janitorial work, landscape maintenance, interpretation, or visitor services, although some positions may require tasks across various areas. Your work may involve basic

    skills:

    in building trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and landscape maintenance. On a task-specific basis, you will guide individuals or teams, including volunteers, seasonal, and temporary employees. Situated in one of the most scenic areas on the Oregon coast, Sunset Bay State Park features beautiful sandy beaches protected by towering sea cliffs.

    Only a short walk from the beach, the campground has sites for tent camping and RV's, as well as cozy and comfortable yurts. Day-use and picnic facilities are located along the bay to allow easy access for beachcombing, fishing, swimming, and boating. We recruit for seasonal positions each year that generally work May through September; however, the duration may vary depending on the park's specific needs.

    Qualifications:

    Six (6) months of

    experience:

    (paid or unpaid) performing public contact or customer service duties (e.g. Teacher, Customer Service Representative, Salesperson, Receptionist, etc.) and/or maintenance

    experience:

    (construction trades, landscaping, custodial, etc.); OR Six (6) months of college in any discipline (24 quarter hours/16 semester hours) Special

    Requirements:

    To be hired, a criminal record and driving record check must be completed that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment while also maintaining a valid driver’s license. Desired Attributes: Skill in asking relevant questions and assessing situations to provide clear, courteous information, deliver effective solutions, and handle tasks efficiently.

    in delivering high-quality service, including assisting the public and maintaining composure in emergency or emotionally charged situations.

    in performing basic tasks in plumbing, carpentry, painting, and groundskeeping. Knowledge and

    in conservation, preservation, and rehabilitation of natural, archaeological, cultural, or historic resources. Ability to develop and deliver basic resource interpretation presentations to the public.
