Summer Intern: Conservation

Primary Function: Interns work with experts in their fields, gain valuable job experience, and engage in meaningful work.

Job Qualifications: Eligible interns are either an undergraduate or graduate student or a recent college graduate.

Clearances: Criminal Background-National

Moving:

• Approximately 80%+ of time is spent seated while working at a desk.
• Ability to occasionally transport up to 25 lbs. of files, equipment or supplies.

• Clearly communicate in person, by phone, and by video conference.

Working Conditions:

• Position operates in the foundation’s buildings and on the foundation’s grounds at the Philadelphia campus.

Job Responsibilities: The Conservation department encompasses all aspects of collections care, including preventive conservation, examination, documentation, treatment, and technical research. Internships in preventive conservation, paintings conservation, and objects conservation are available for undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students.

The undergraduate internship is designed for students interested in pursuing a graduate degree in art conservation or a related field. The internship will focus on preventive conservation and collections management with an introduction to the examination of objects. Treatment projects will be dependent upon the applicant's prior experience. Applicants must have completed an introductory course in general chemistry.

The graduate internship is designed for students enrolled in an art conservation program or recent postgraduates with a degree in art conservation.
