    Job Description

    Company Description

    About The Downsizers:

The Downsizers is the leading senior relocation and estate liquidation company in the Triangle. We provide a full-service, all-in-one solution including downsizing support, move management, estate liquidation, online estate auctions, and professional moving services. Our work is high-touch, detail-oriented, and often conducted under tight timelines.

Work Environment Our movers work in private homes, apartments, and senior living communities throughout the Triangle region, including Chapel Hill, Durham, Cary, Raleigh, Apex, Wake Forest, Morrisville, Holly Springs, Hillsborough, and surrounding North Carolina areas. This role involves working in fast-paced, emotionally sensitive environments that require professionalism, patience, and empathy.

    Why Work With The Downsizers

    • Work with a company that values skill, experience, and professionalism over rushed, high-volume moving. Our projects are purpose-driven, allowing your work to directly support seniors and their families during important life transitions. Most of our moves are shuttle-style, emphasizing organization, care, and attention to detail rather than brute speed. Compared to standard residential or commercial moving, we offer a calmer, more respectful work environment and a supportive, team-oriented culture where experienced movers are trusted, respected, and appreciated

    Job Description

    About the Role:

The Downsizers is hiring for an Experienced Mover to join our growing team. This role is designed for movers who already understand professional moving standards and take pride in safe handling, efficiency, and respectful client interaction. Our projects primarily support seniors and families during major life transitions, where experience and professionalism are essential.

What We’re Looking For This position is best suited for experienced movers, not entry-level candidates.

You should already be comfortable with:

Professional loading and unloading of moving trucks using safe, efficient techniques and ensuring item protection Furniture disassembly/reassembly and protection Safe lifting, loading, and unloading practices Working efficiently on deadline-driven moves Interacting respectfully with clients in sensitive situations

Adaptability, reliability, positivity, and a calm demeanor are essential. Role Purpose (Why This Role Exists) The Mover supports the safe, efficient, and respectful transport of client belongings during moves, estate liquidations, and downsizing projects. This role exists to ensure items are prepared, loaded, transported, unloaded, and placed with care while providing a calm, professional, and service-oriented experience for clients during often stressful transitions.

Working as part of a moving team, the Mover follows project instructions, safety standards, and company procedures while representing The Downsizers’ values and commitment to exceptional client care. This role is also responsible for clearly communicating job completion through same-day project feed updates, including photos, notes, and any required contracts or documentation, to ensure accurate records and smooth follow-through.

Why This Role Is Different Most of our projects are shuttle-style moves, involving the careful transport and delivery of items to family members, consignment partners, auction destinations, or new locations within senior living communities. Moves often take place in phases and require attention to detail, organization, and clear communication rather than high-speed bulk hauling.

This is not standard residential or commercial moving. Our clients rely on us for guidance, care, and confidence during significant life transitions. If you’re an experienced mover looking for meaningful, professional work where your skills truly matter, this role offers both purpose and stability.
