OVERVIEW:
The Day Camp Counselor helps plan and lead engaging, faith-based youth programs, prioritizing the safety and well-being of all children. Counselors follow center policies and take direction from the Ministry Assistant and/or Corps Officer, while actively engaging with and supporting children throughout the day.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide service to participants and families
- Follow all child safety policies and procedures
- Assist with supervising and maintaining order in children’s groups
- Maintain supervision at all times
- Respond calmly in security or crisis situations
- Support check-in and sign-out processes
- Stay informed on daily plans to assist effectively
- Engage children and encourage participation in activities
- Keep work and play areas clean and organized
- Assist with meal and snack preparation and service
- Ensure facility security and report any concerns
- Attend staff meetings
- Maintain confidentiality
- Other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 14 years of age (required)
- First Aid and CPR certification (within 90 days of hire – required)
- California Food Handler's Card or ServSafe® Certificate (required – or
company provided)
- Experience working with children (preferred)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to relate positively and energetically with others while maintaining
a non‑judgmental attitude
- Ability to manage challenging child behaviors with calmness and empathy
- Communicate effectively and with empathy, especially with vulnerable
populations
- Work independently with minimal supervision while remaining team‑oriented and
cooperative
- Remain calm and effective in a fast‑paced environment

- Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software
- Janitorial and maintenance equipment
- Playground and recreational equipment
- Sports gear and supplies
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Capable of visual and auditory supervision
