What will you do? A day in the life of a Manager, Supply Planning at Smartwool and icebreaker looks a little like this. As a leader in the Supply Chain Operations team, this role will manage a team responsible for procuring supply to meet service and inventory objectives. You and your team will work to ensure on time deliveries from vendors and to customers.
You will also develop and lead the execution of the Inventory Plan. Key partners will include Demand Planning, Global Supply Planning, Logistics, Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service. Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.
- Manage team that will recommend and execute buys based upon demand inputs and other crucial supply planning criteria (current inventory levels, vendor & supplier capacity, minimums, and buy readiness).
Partner with Global Supply Planning and other regional partners to align consensus purchase plans Continually monitor demand needs and supply timing to identify issues and opportunities. Adjust supply timing as needed to improve service to customers and/or meet inventory objectives. Own communication of key issues and action plans with key stakeholders.
- Manage the analysis, approvals and reporting for air requests and production acceleration.
Closely partner with cross functional stakeholders to ensure delivery of current month financial objectives.
- Build annual Inventory Plan to support seasonal startups, monthly revenue flow and service goals.
Proactively drive and manage inventory dollars and days by region and channel to ensure a healthy mix inventory.
- Implement and document inventory planning processes to ensure appropriate controls.
- Help drive longer term view of supply availability taking into consideration demand needs by product type and any potential capacity or material constraints.
- Lead key projects to evolve supply chain capabilities in support of the brand’s strategic initiatives.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members.
