Job Summary:
Dispatch Transportation personnel and equipment in a timely fashion to ensure expedient and accurate guest/tour pick up and transportation.
The Details:
Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round Pay: $18.90 per hour
- Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities:
- Prepare/update dispatch Opera/Dashboard paperwork and assignments as needed.
Dispatch drivers and assign busses and/or taxis.
- Communicates with customers, e.g. pick times/dates and special requests or services.
Brief drivers on assignments and special duties as required.
- Communicate with the Williams Ticket Agent Staff & Transportation desks regarding sales, questions & ADA requests of all in park & GC Railway tours.
- Coordinate signed Opera/Dashboard receipts and tour orders with drivers, Transportation Desk personnel and if necessary, guests, for proper processing.
Brief new drivers on tour guide information and stops prior to dispatching on new assignments.
- Coordinate with Transportation Desk personnel on tour departures, late passengers and taxi requests.
Abide by Cash Handling Policies & Procedures Manual issued by Xanterra South Rim Accounting Department.
- Coordinate hiker transportation requirements.
- Assist Transportation Desk personnel in billing process for various or special tours.
- Update schedule for drivers based upon total tour counts from customers; and informs drivers of any schedule changes.
Complete daily monies reports/ledgers, deposits, etc. in Opera/Dashboard. Complete daily paperwork, e.g. Daily tour counts Log, Opera Daily Log, daily payroll report, timecards, etc. Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Manager, Transportation Director, or Executive Director or Operations.
- Communicate information on operations with other Dispatch personnel if assignment(s) fall on their work duty.
- Work with National Park Service Dispatch on communications involving emergencies.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Exhibit excellent verbal communication skills with ability to provide explicit instructions and directions. Must also possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to use radio communication equipment. Must possess accurate knowledge of the Grand Canyon region and transportation services provided in the region; with ability to accurately communicate such information to Transportation personnel and guests alike.
Must be willing to accept and work overtime hours as assigned, which may include hours before and/or after scheduled shift, and day(s) off. Possess ability to successfully accomplish assignments in an intense fast paced working environment.
- Participate in ongoing leadership and training classes as offered by the Training & Development Department.
Ability to utilize logic, reasoning and diplomacy in handling employee and/or guest complaints and concerns relating to the dispatching of tours, equipment and/or schedules.
