As a key member of the Summer Camp staff team, the Camp Director is responsible for creating a safe, fun and positive atmosphere that promotes camper engagement, a strong staff team, and an excellent summer camp

in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Uphold the mission of the YMCA, and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature. Stands and greets parents and campers by name.

• Assist with leading summer camp staff trainings that include safety protocols, appropriate supervision tactics, group songs, games and crafts, and engages campers in learning activities.
• Develop and implement weekly camp activity station and field trip schedules.
• Implement

al activities to summer camp that relate to the weekly themed activities.

• Maintains positive relationships with the participants, parents/guardians, and other camp staff.

Knows, understands, and consistently applies all safety rules.

• Communicates with parents and caregivers in a professional manner that represents the Y regarding their child’s activities/day.
• Provide great stewardship for YMCA fiscal goals; including staff schedules, field trip costs, and supply costs.

Possess a willingness to work with youth and have FUN. Able to be a role model for campers and teens in our programs. A leader that has initiative, enthusiasm, and strong interpersonal

skills:

Attends all staff meetings and training as assigned. Coaching staff on performance. Complete staff observations and safety checks. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lifting up to 50lbs Climbing, sitting, standing, pushing, walking, kneeling, and stooping Tolerate heat and humidity for extended periods of time Must be able to be outdoors for major portions of the day.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Noise level- High Multi-tasking environment Exposure to heat and sun for extended periods Standing for extended period

Qualifications:

Minimum age of 21 (preferred) Team player with personal commitment to YMCA Mission, Philosophy & Character Development Values. People centered, service oriented. Ability to lead, inspire, and motivate camp staff teams. Excellent oral and written communication

skills:

Previous camp or group leadership

experience:

preferred.

• Provide excellent supervision and leadership for up to 15 camp counselors.
