Eagle Pool & Ice Rink is hiring dependable staff to support ice rink operations with a strong focus on ice maintenance and resurfacing. Responsibilities include driving the Zamboni/Olympia Ice Resurfacing Machine, maintaining high-quality ice conditions, skate sharpening, and assisting with front desk and customer service duties as needed. Previous rink maintenance experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

POSITION DETAILS

Job Title: Ice Rink Maintenance Technician

Location: Eagle Pool and Ice Rink (Eagle, CO)

Schedule: Part-Time; Seasonal • October – March

Work Environment: Works primarily indoors, with regular exposure to cold temperatures within the indoor arena and occasional exposure to chemicals used in ice maintenance and resurfacing. This position is physically demanding and requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, as well as frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and operating machinery such as the Olympia Ice Resurfacing Machine. Employees must follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling equipment or chemicals; work hours will vary, including evening hours and weekends.


Supervision Required: Directly supervised by the Eagle Pool and Ice Rink Facility Supervisor and Maintenance Supervisor

Supervision Exercised: None


Salary: $21.28 - $26.60/hour, DOE; staff in this position are eligible for a $1/hour incentive for Spanish/English bilingual and can pass the language competency test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Statement of Duties: Perform skilled work related to ice rink maintenance and facility upkeep, including ice resurfacing, equipment repair, and general maintenance tasks. Responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely completion of projects and daily operations that support the functionality and cleanliness of the ice rink and surrounding areas.


Examples of Duties:

  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service and communication skills to foster positive interactions with patrons, coworkers, and supervisors. Must be team-oriented, adaptable, and maintain a positive, professional attitude.
  • Possesses strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a track record of reliability, dependability, and professionalism.
  • Has basic knowledge of hand tools, equipment, and machinery commonly used in maintenance tasks.
  • Performs snow removal and ice control duties as needed to maintain safe access to the facility.
  • Assists with minor construction and remodeling projects, including basic carpentry and painting.
  • Maintains a safe work environment by following all safety procedures and identifying potential hazards.
  • Responsible for general custodial tasks, including removing trash and recycling and transporting large items to the dump.
  • Performs routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and minor repairs.
  • Establishes and follows preventative maintenance schedules for facility equipment and systems.
  • Completes general and specialized maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of tools and equipment, ensuring all are in good working condition.
  • Completes assigned work orders promptly and according to specifications.
  • Documents completed work and reports any issues that require further attention.
  • Immediately reports safety concerns or hazards to the Facility Supervisor.
  • Assists with special projects and supports other facility operations as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Considerable knowledge of: principles, practices and methods used in facility maintenance, repair, and construction; maintenance and safe operation of powered equipment and hand tools


Skills and abilities: Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to ensure the successful completion of projects. The role requires the ability to work independently, use sound judgment, and take initiative. Candidates must be capable of performing physical labor, lifting heavy objects, and navigating rough or uneven terrain on job sites.

Requirements:

Education and experience

  • Minimum 18 years of age or older; AND
  • High school diploma or equivalent; AND
  • One year experience in facilities, or related field, with emphasis on facility maintenance and/or specialized construction trade; OR
  • Any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above-described work.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License and clean driving record.

Certifications

  • CPO/AFO (preferred)
  • May require possession of or ability to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
