Job Description:

Nurses are responsible for the care and supervision of all medical services. This care includes; looking after ill or injured campers or staff, administering medication(s), communicating with parents, teachers, and staff, organization of medical information, medications, and first-aid kits, as well as keeping records of camper visits. Camps will be staffed 24 hours a day with days depending on
the program. For Outdoor Education, the first half of the week (check-in time Monday to check-out time Wednesday), or the second half of the week (check-in time Wednesday to check-out time Friday) for campers and staff. Shifts adjust depending on program schedules. For Summer Camp, camps will be staffed 24 hours of the day from
check-in time Sunday to check-out time Saturday for campers and staff.

    

Position Specific Information (if Applicable):

• Licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Colorado
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications / BLS
• Current General Liability Insurance 
• Must pass a CBI/FBI and TRAILS background check
• Illness and injury management
• Experience working with children and youth, preferred
• 21 years of age or older
• Ability to maintain health forms and paperwork
• Ability to maintain and administer all medications
• Ability to make decisions and take initiative under  pressure
• Good verbal, written, and electronic communication skills
• Proficient with computers and comfortable learning new
software
• Assist in organizing and setting up the Nurse office
• Cleaning Nurse room and office after use
• Making sure inventory of First-Aid kits is supplied and
maintained
• Maintain camper health forms
• Keep a daily log of camper’s nurse visits
• Accept and safely store all prescription and over-the-
counter drugs
• Administer prescription and over-the-counter drugs
when necessary
• Illness and injury management
• Communication with parents, SCOE staff, and SCOE
Customers of campers illness or injury
• Be a medical resource that would bridge the gap
between basic medical knowledge and emergencies
• Be available to communicate with campers guardian,
or school nurse for all shifts assigned prior to campers
program dates
• Providing First Aid for but not limited to: cuts, scrapes,
and bruises, bee stings, dehydration, sunburn, poison
ivy, etc.

• Ensure the wellness and care for all Stone Canyon community.

    

Responsibilities:


--- Assess the health of the school community and advocate for physical and emotional safety through collaboration with all stakeholders.


--- Participate in professional growth opportunities.


--- Design disease prevention and health promotion strategies for the students and school staff.


--- Ensure safe delegation of nursing interventions to unlicensed assistive personnel by adhering to the provisions of the Colorado Nurse Practice Act (CRS 12-38-101).


--- Participate as the health expert on the RTI, special education and 504 teams by mitigating health related obstacles to learning.


--- Identify students with health needs requiring modifications or accommodations in the school setting or during school sponsored events and activities.


--- Assure student health information is protected in accordance with Family Educational Right to Privacy Act (FERPA) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).


--- Participate in comprehensive health education programs and school health policy development.


--- Provide direct health services for the student when appropriate.


--- Obtain and interpret student health data for special education assessments and 504 accommodation plans.


--- Develop a health care plan to meet students’ individual health needs in the school setting.


--- Collaborate with others to fulfill responsibilities related to building district, regional and state goals and priorities.


--- Use evaluation of student outcomes to measure the effectiveness of intervention.

--- Document health related services in designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program as assigned.


--- Develop lesson plans and/or outlines for identified health education needs.

Full Salary Range:

$62,150.00 USD - $131,345.00 USD Annual
  • All salary amounts listed above are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
