Pay Rate:                               $27.00 – $31.00/hr., based on skills and experience.

Summary

To assist the Ski Patrol Director, Assistant Patrol Director and/or Supervisor in the execution of daily Ski Patrol operations and Ski Patrol personnel. Assist the Ski Patrol Director, Assistant Director and Patrol Supervisor in the training, supervision, and execution of all Ski Patrol operations. In coordination with Patrol Supervisor, is responsible for ensuring the plan of the day is effectively communicated to all patrollers and is carried out in a safe and efficient manner. Reports to Ski Patrol Supervisor (or in absence, to the Patrol Director) on progress of all assigned work projects, trainings, and all other relevant information. May be tasked with leading, training and coordinating the execution of specific and focused disciplines within the patrol. Performs the duties of the Ski Patrol Supervisor in the event of their absence. Essential Functions

  • Assist with planning, leading and supervising on mountain operations
  • Participate in patroller hiring decisions by evaluating participants in ski/snowboard tryouts, participating in interviews and providing recommendations on hiring decisions to Patrol Director/Assistant Director/Supervisor
  • Monitor performance of patrollers and provide input to Patrol Director and Assistant Patrol Director related to performance management, including evaluations, disciplinary action, promotions and assignment of special duties
  • Training of ski patrol skills and procedures
  • Skier Safety
  • Public relations and education
  • Performance of Patroller Duties, as needed
Requirements

Requirements/Qualifications

  • H. S. diploma or equivalent education and/or experience
  • 3 years’ experience in all aspects of ski patrolling.
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Emergency Medical Technician or Outdoor Emergency Care certifications
  • Pro I Avalanche Certification
  • Knowledge of explosives handling and storage, avalanche control, search and rescue procedures and chairlift evacuation procedures.
  • Ability to assume temporary incident command of all on mountain critical incidents.
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly (speak and understand) in English – verbal and written communications.
  • Bilingual is helpful
  • Expert level ski or snowboard ability
