Data fuels everything from strategic decision-making to the creation of innovative solutions for our customers. Our Data Governance team plays a pivotal role in ensuring this valuable resource is accurate, secure, and ethically managed. The Senior Data Governance Analyst will drive cross-functional collaboration within a data domain to interpret and promote adherence to data governance policies and practices with the goal of establishing clarity and quality in policy enactment. You will be an advocate for effective use of domain data across teams and projects. You will be a liaison between business units and IT teams to ensure a unified approach to data quality and data project execution.

Your Responsibilities:

Data Maintenance and Governance
  • Work with Data Owners, Stewards and Custodians to recommend and implement data governance policies and processes within target data domain(s)
  • Monitor the state of data within a domain and the aligned business outcomes
  • Collaborate with Data Council members to receive and understand policy directives
  • Assist Data Stewards in interpreting and enacting policy requirements
  • Identify data governance process weaknesses and gaps, recommend and drive process improvements, where possible initiate projects that drive forward the vision of Data Governance
  • Proactively identify, prioritize, and lead the resolution of governance and quality issues for enterprise data assets with data stewards and stakeholders
  • Assist Data Stewards with the creation, documentation, and adherence of data governance policies and expectations
  • Mentor Data Stewards in the range of stewardship activities; be prepared to step-in to data steward role where conflicts arise
  • Sponsor cross-domain discussions, issue remediation, and drive best practices
  • Drive engagement, leadership, and active participation, and agendas of the Data Stewardship Community of Practice
  • Participate in regular governance meetings
  • Ensure Risks, Issues, Actions, and Decisions are appropriately documented and socialized
  • Track, monitor, and publish metrics and scorecards


Stakeholder & Change Management
  • Serve as an ambassador for the data within target domain(s); be able to speak to the data that exists, what it means, where and how it is being used, sources, etc.
  • Ensure work performed is in line with overall business objectives and Data Governance vision
  • Be a trusted advisor across business units, providing guidance on standard approaches, sharing best practices and anticipating opportunities for data governance activities and projects
  • Possess a deep understanding of how data is used within business processes and its impact on desired business outcomes
  • Gain understanding of current and future data needs and strategy for data in assigned data domain required to meet business objectives
  • Communicate the business value of data governance to stakeholders, tailoring messaging to resonate with different audiences
  • Foster a change management mentality to accelerate adoption of governance policies and processes


Technology Enablement & IT Collaboration
  • Collaborate with the data engineering, integrations team, and application owners to align governance requirements, policies with data pipelines, storage, and processing workflows
  • Provide hands-on leadership, counsel, & education to IT projects, application owners, data custodians, etc. on the role of Data Governance & Stewardship for project-based work and ongoing data issue remediation


Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Steward or Data Analyst roles
  • Demonstrated experience working in a cross-functional global environment
  • Strong business acumen and excellent interpersonal skills that inspire and build trust and strong working relationships across the company
  • Experience operationalizing Data Governance policies, standards, processes and controls
  • Strong functional understanding of data issues and remediations that need to be implemented to resolve issues, leveraging business processes and technical capabilities
  • Experience with Data Catalog tools and a deep understanding of metadata management, data governance principles and data lineage concepts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and able to communicate clearly and concisely with functional experts, project teams and stakeholders

Compensation: The pay range for this position, based out of the Brooks Seattle HQ, is $108.403 - $162,605 per year. Base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
