Specialized is looking for a seasoned bike mechanic with unique suspension and wheel service experience to be our Service Centre Technician to ensure we continue to provide the very best service to our Specialized riders & retailers. In addition to your core technical responsibilities, youβll also support our Rider Care team during quieter periods, helping to deliver exceptional customer experiences across Australia & New Zealand.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- You will be responsible for repairing and servicing of Specialized proprietary suspension, wheels and bike builds.
- The majority of your day will be spent at a work bench working on disassembly, diagnosis and reassembly, as well as routine service of product
- You will work with retailers and riders to gather information about issues
- You will help create and accomplish goals within the Service Centre
- Establish methods and procedures that will improve quality and turnaround time for suspension and wheel service
- Will manage incoming work orders and process work in a satisfactory time frame, insuring good customer relations and brand loyalty
- Record and maintain statistical information related to type of problems found, frequency of problem, and resulting solutions
- You will support bike building for Ship to Home bikes, ambassadors and our team
- Daily interaction with the Rider Care teams across Australia & New Zealand
- Support Rider Care operations during downtime, assisting with customer queries, order tracking, and general service support
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels of parts and tools needed for suspension and wheel service
- Educate our team regarding suspension and wheel technology, to increase their knowledge which better supports our retailers
- You are proactive in building relationships with your peers around the globe to ensure you are aware of policies, procedures, newsletters, presentations and training
- Attend events such demo rides and retailer events as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- You will have a high level of mechanical ability with at least 3-5 yearsβ experience servicing forks, shocks and wheels ideally in a service centre environment
- Must have in-depth understanding of bicycle suspension and wheel products, with ability to assemble, disassemble, troubleshoot and diagnose components.
- Significant customer service experience, preferably in a bicycle shop, or other service shop environment
- Must be familiar with the processes and equipment necessary for the service of wheels, shocks and forks.
- Experience in wheel building and aftermarket wheels and related parts
- Experience in aftermarket tuning of forks and shocks
- Quality assurance background would be advantageous
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with excellent knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook. Oracle experience would be an advantage
