Summary:

The Team Leader is responsible for overall management and leadership of their crew. The team lead provides an inspiring and positive environment for growth, teamwork, personal development, and accomplishment of daily tasks.

What will you be doing?

  • Set priorities and clear team goals. Inspire and motivate team members to achieve those goals by utilizing team strengths.
  • Delegate tasks and oversee daily operations.
  • Ensure that department and company standards are maintained.
  • Provide emergency care and transport for guests and employees.
  • Ensure that signage, tower pads, and other risk reduction strategies are being accomplished.
  • Identify training needs and opportunities to promote the growth and development of team members.
  • Provide leadership opportunities for other team members and then offer direction and mentorship to help them succeed.
  • Create a positive team environment with an open communication culture. Be open to innovative ideas from team members. Encourage and support independent thinking within the team.
  • Develop a positive and healthy environment for accomplishing overall ski patrol and resort objectives.
  • Collaborate with other team leads and the Ski Patrol Director to provide consistent messaging between teams.
  • Deal with guest complaints as needed.
  • Complete mid-season and end of season evaluations for all team members

What do you need to be able to do the job?

  • Minimum three years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Three or more years of experience in patrolling, along with teaching/mentoring responsibilities.
  • Strong leadership and listening skills.
  • Exceptional knowledge of Snowbasin terrain and associated weather.
  • Ability to direct complex medical scenarios.
  • Ability to drive engagement while motivating employees toward self-improvement.
  • Strong commitment to the success of individual patrollers, the department, and the resort.
  • Exceptional employee and guest relations skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Pro 1/Level 2 avalanche certification or higher.
  • Advanced search and rescue knowledge and abilities.

Β Education and Certifications

Β Valid EMT, OEC or higher certification - required.
