Overview of Position: A Ski Patroller is responsible for all mountain safety activities such as opening and closing trails, removing, reporting and marking hazards, reporting trail conditions, performing trail checks, responding to possible accidents, providing emergency medical care, mountain rescue, lift evacuation and transport. This is a highly skilled and responsible position.


Job Duties: The list below best represents many tasks you will be asked to perform at some time during your employment here at Windham Mountain Club.

  • Daily monitoring of the terrain to ensure that Windham Mountain Club meets or exceeds all state and federal laws, codes, rules and regulations regarding safety in skiing.
  • Open lifts and trails prior to public access to assure their safe and proper condition.
  • Ensure that all trail and warning signs are in good order and properly placed.
  • Ensure that all trail markings including bamboo poles, fences and ribbon are in good order and properly placed.
  • Ensure that all padding of lift towers, snow guns, signposts and other objects are in good order, the right height and properly placed.
  • Monitor and report accurate trail conditions.
  • Properly mark all trail hazards.
  • Respond to reports of accidents with rescue toboggan and appropriate equipment.
  • Perform first aid and mountain rescue as needed.
  • Observe and correct, or properly mark if necessary, any trail conditions adversely affected by wind, weather, snowmaking or other manmade or natural occurrences.
  • Perform lift evacuations as required.
  • Coordinate with other departments to accomplish objectives.
  • Assist guests as needed in any way possible.
  • Serve as radio dispatcher at a summit location.
  • Complete accident reports and all necessary paperwork and documentation.
Requirements

Job Qualifications:

  • Must be an expert skier and/or snowboarder with ability to ski the toughest terrain at Windham Mountain Club in a strong, stable manner.
  • Must be able to ski/ride under control navigating all levels of terrain, in adverse conditions, including trails that have not been opened.
  • Must have the ability perform a mountain rescue via toboggan and transport injured persons of all sizes and weights down the most difficult terrain.Β Β 
  • Must have the ability to lift, roll, pull and carry up to 200+ pounds with assistance.
  • Must be certified as an EMT, OEC, Paramedic, or Wilderness First Responder.
  • Must have strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Must be mature and responsible.


Work Schedule and Conditions: We are in the business of providing a premier experience for our guests. Traditionally our busy periods are during weekends and holiday periods which you will be expected to work. You can also expect to be asked to work extra hours or days on occasion, especially during the holiday periods.Β 


Salary Description
$20 - $25/hr
