JOB OVERVIEW

As a Ski & Snowboard Instructor, you will provide instruction in the fundamentals of skiing or snowboarding to guests (children, adults, families) in a safe, fun, and encouraging environment. Your role is to help build skills, confidence, and enjoyment, especially for beginners. You will represent Hoedown Hill’s Ski & Snowboard School brand with professionalism, positivity, and excellent guest service.

Essential Job Functions:

· Conduct ski or snowboard lessons for all ages & ability levels - group classes and private lessons.

· Use terrain-based learning techniques in dedicated beginner areas.

· Arrive on time, fully prepared (in proper gear), ready to teach.

· Demonstrate skiing/snowboarding techniques both physically and verbally; break down fundamental skills.

· Provide clear, actionable feedback for students during and at the conclusion of the lessons.

· Ensure all safety protocols are followed - including slope safety, equipment checks, lift loading/unloading.

· Knowledge of and compliance with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards

· Maintain awareness of weather and hill conditions, adapt lesson content accordingly.

· Assist with set-up and clean-up of lessons area, helping with equipment fitting if needed.

· Support guest experience: greet guests, answer questions, help with reservations/lesson bookings when applicable.

· Work collaboratively with other instructors, supervisors, and Snow School management to resolve guest concerns or improve lesson delivery.

· Continuously improve your own teaching/technical skills via clinics, training, feedback.

Job Requirements:

· Strong skiing and/or snowboarding ability

· Able to demonstrate control on beginner and intermediate terrain; comfortable facilitating movement for students.

· Previous teaching or coaching experience is desirable but not always required (for entry level).

· Certification is preferred (PSIA, AASI, or equivalent) depending on level of lessons expected.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage with kids, adults, families.

· Friendly, patient, adaptable; able to adjust teaching style for different learning needs and ages.

· Fitness & stamina adequate to be outside in cold/snow, standing/walking in snow gear for multiple hours.

· Ability to lift and assist students/equipment as needed.

On-Hill Environment:

· The primary physical environment in which this position works is outdoors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, and rain.

· The degree of strenuous activity within the job is high. Often lifting a weight of 25+ pounds throughout the day is common.

· Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with equipment.


Expected Pay Range: $20.00 - $22.00
